Municipal Engineering
When Joseph Graham and Allen Fehr merged their Freeport, Illinois engineering firms in 1973, the results were expanded and enhanced services to their primary clients-municipalities in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
Expansion and enhancement continue with today’s Fehr-Graham & Associates (FGA). Nearly 100 staff now provides professional services to over 200 municipalities, counties, and special service districts. FGA has also established offices in Rockford, Illinois, Rochelle, Illinois, Springfield, Illinois, and Monroe, Wisconsin, to better serve our clients in these rapidly growing areas.
Complementing our traditional municipal work (water, waste water, and storm water) projects FGA offers services in:
- Transportation planning and design (streets, intersections)
- Tax Incremental District (TID) creation and use of Tax Incremental Financing (TIF)
- Land surveying
- Subdivision review
- Construction observation
- Information Technology (IT): systems design and support (GIS, SCADA)
Fehr-Graham & Associates also helps to procure funds for community growth and improvement. Our Community Development Specialists have secured more than $20 million in funding assistance from federal and state sources over the past three years.
In some communities, FGA works on a project engineer basis. In many others, we act as the Community Engineer, a broader and deeper role. Together with staff and elected officials, we provide leadership and expertise to ensure continued maintenance and improvement of community infrastructure. We also help develop and implement community planning, to maximize local resources and achieve agreed-upon goals.
